Introduction

Moving away from Paradiso street, through a little alley, you arrive in one of the dearest places for local inhabitants: The Prison of the Three Saints, also named Cave of King Tertullo. A place of worship, this little cave Church is also dedicated to St. Cleònico and St. Stratònico.
Here the young Alfio, Filadelfo and Cirino, Protectors of Lentini, were imprisoned under directive of the tyrant Tertullo, from their arrival in the city on September 3rd, 252 AD. until the day of their martyrdom on May 10th, 253 AD.
The church is also dedicated to the young roman soldiers Cleònico and Stratònico who were witnesses of the execution of the three brothers. They shuoted against Tertullo accusing him of cruelty so they also were first detained and then martyred.
